The Pigeon Gets A Review!?!??!

Author Mo Willems (he wrote for Sesame Street for 10 years and that makes him AWESOME) just put out his newest additions to the Pigeon series: The Duckling Gets a Cookie!? (My other favorites by him are The Pigeon Wants a Puppy and the Knuffle Bunny series)

Now, you have to understand that the Pigeon NEVER gets ANYTHING he wants! No matter HOW MUCH! He's not allowed to have a puppy (he's wanted one since at LEAST last Tuesday), he's not allowed to drive the bus (but he bets your mom would let him), and he's not allowed to stay up late!

Then Duckling comes along! Very politely, he asks for a cookie. Guess what? He gets one! AND it has chocolate chips and nuts in it! He definitely says Thank You for that!

When the Pigeon shows up he sees: THE DUCKLING GETS A COOKIE?! With Chocolate Chips! AND NUTS!? How did he get it!?

He asked. Politely.

You'll have to read the book to find out what happens!

I wholeheartedly recommend the Pigeon books - they're very sneaky about teaching that you can't always get what you want, and that begging and bribing gets you nowhere. They're also hilarious. I've never read the Piggy and Elephant books, but as I said above, Knuffle Bunny is also great - they're all about Trixie and her Knuffle Bunny and their adventures (KB being the stuffed bunny that Trixie can NEVER GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT. We've all had them.)

So run! Don't walk! Take the Bus! (But don't drive it. They have professionals who do that.) Get to a bookstore and read all about the Pigeon!
